Anemometer umumnya menggunakan sensor berupa baling-baling yang mengubah kecepatan putaran baling-baling menjadi kecepatan angin. Pada Hot Wire Anemometer sensor menggunakan kawat kecil yang dialiri panas hingga suhunya diatas suhu lingkungan.
Disaat ada udara/ angin yang mengalir melalui kawat maka akan terjadi proses penurunan suhu pada kawat. Perubahan suhu ini diperhitungkan sebagai indikator perubahan kecepatan angin yang diuji.
Hot Wire Anemometer ini mengkonversi perubahan suhu menjadi kecepatan angin.
Ideal digunakan di berbagai industri untuk ventilasi, HVAC, penelitian lingkungan, Meteorology, Agricuture, Storage, Monitoring cuaca dll.
